Ventura college: Megan Petree's Wonderland

Megan Petree, an advanced ceramics student at Ventura College, has developed a series inspired by her own visions of wonderland. The intricacy of the designs and detail draw the viewers in hold them in this amazing world.

Ventura College Art Gallery - Twofold + Subjective Objectivity

The first exhibition of Fall 2012 at Ventura College Art Galleries: New Media Gallery - Subjective Objectivity and Gallery 2 - Twofold. It turned out to be a great exhibition. In the New Media Gallery we have artists - Patsy Cox, Jim Gonzalez, Tom McMillin, Chris Turk.   They and their friends/family joined the celebration on Sept 6th. We also presented Twofold,  a Jenchi Wu ceramic sculpture solo exhibition in Gallery 2. Both shows are exhibiting simultaneously through Oct 19th. For those who showed up at exhibition that night, I sincerely thank you for your support. Don't miss it if you haven't seen them yet.

Subjective Objectivity Opening

The individuals selected to participate in Subjective Objectivity were chosen because of their strong influence upon me as artists, instructors and mentors. Each has inspired me and shown me different paths to travel down with my thought process as well as my art. Each has a unique way of using clay and seeing the world. And as such, each is able to contribute to and change the world in their own way.

Twofold

Twofold is an exploration into the perception of ceramics as functional objects, coupled with divergence of ideas of the traditional and contemporary aspects of clay. This includes an ongoing examination into how manipulation, physical force, special relationships, environment, gravity, and nature affect the work.

Santa Paula Art Museum - Next Generation

I was invited this summer to select several students to participate in Santa Paula Art Museum's exhibition, Next Generation. I chose students for their outstanding achievements in their classes. I was very proud to select Chloe Rahimzadeh, Meghan Sheetz and Ermelinda Bendy to participating in their first museum exhibition. The show will go through October 21. Ventura College Ceramics - Metamorphosis

There were quite a few interesting Metamorphosis pieces that were created last semester. Students went all out to develop their projects. Ventura College Art - Addiction in Art

"Addiction in Art" enjoyed a well-attended, one night showing in the Oxnard Art Beat Gallery in Oxnard, CA.  Curated by Ventura College 3D instructor and artist Jenchi Wu, this show was a collaboration between Ventura College art instructors and their students. As artists and educators, the passion, drive, belief and dedication for creating works of art influences our daily teaching. Students absorb information from their instructors and reflect it on to their own work. This creates a thread between student and instructor. This exhibition showcased  instructors Julie Dahl-Nicolle, Michelle Onstot, Catherine Day, Pam Huth, Bob Moskowitz, and their students' works. The exhibition included drawings, portraits, paintings, prints, ceramics, and sculpture.
